Jeremy Geerdes :: Effective Website Design & Development
Tech Overview

Whether we like it or not, we are surrounded constantly by technology. It gets us to work in the morning, provides us with entertainment at night, and (allegedly) makes life easier for everyone. But more often than not, it's the seamless integration of a number of technologies that really makes the biggest impact. Here are just some of the technologies that I'll use to make the web work for you.

XHTML. Actually a whole bundle of technologies, I have extensive experience making dynamic websites driven by accepted standards. From markup and layout to coding, I excel at drafting websites that work for everyone.

MySQL. Most businesses manage a vast amount of ever-changing data. MySQL is a free database engine that offers exceptional performance (speed) and power (functionality), and at the right price. Although there will be times when MySQL won't be appropriate, and I can and will adapt to your needs, it certainly is my favorite database for now.

Perl/CGI. On the internet, CGI is a workhorse. It's been around for several years, and it does a lot of the heavy lifting that websites require. There are other options out there (e.g. PHP, JSP, ASP), but Perl is something of the greatest common denominator. If you can write Perl scripts, you can handle it all. I do Perl well.
